New Streambox Technology

ACT-L4 Codec — Advanced Compression Technology – Level 4
ACT-L4, the next generation of Streambox compression technology will be previewed at NAB 2012. ACT-L4 codec is capable of compressing higher motion complex video at lower data rates using the new Advanced Motion Search feature. Low motion video requiring low latency such as Talking Head will also benefit from ACT-L4’s new face detection and augmented compression to improve video quality optimized for interviews.

ACT-L4 allows faster encoding with lower latency that is optimized for video transmission over any low bandwidth IP connection. This release will scale across the entire Streambox Platform of professional live and file-based video products including HD/SD rackmount Encoders and Decoders, HD/SD Software Encoders installed on Mac OS X and Windows PC laptops, iPhone and Android Apps, and Avenir mobile Encoders.

New Customizable 1-RU HD/SD Rackmount Encoder/Decoder

The current product line of Streambox Rackmount Encoders/Decoders will decrease from eight hardware units down to one versatile single chassis that can be tailored to each organizations unique workflow and deployment requirements. The 1-RU unit has various multi-functional features that can transform the Encoder/Decoder easily with in-place software upgrades. Standard key hardware design features reduce noise, decrease power consumption, and lower heat emission from the unit. Also included is the Streambox-exclusive reliable protocol Low Delay Multi-Path (LDMP) technology and automated one-click streaming. Upgrades are HD/SD and Half Duplex.

LDMP Networking Technology
The Streambox Platform is powered by new Low Delay Multi-Path (LDMP) networking technology, which is a reliable protocol that helps users deliver low latency video over multiple IP networks. This technology addresses how to send video reliably over public Internet connections at low data rates without using bandwidth-consuming Forward Error Correction (FEC). LDMP is a reliable two-way networking protocol that integrates with the Streambox Encoder for optimum video transmission and automatically ensures delivery by bonding all available IP networks to maximize bandwidth while maintaining low latency.

Automated One-Click Streaming
All Streambox products offer easy-to-use automated one-click streaming that utilize LDMP’s reliable multi-path networking and automated HD/SD visual settings based on best possible: bandwidth, latency, or resolution. Users will have the option to choose from presets including: Ultralow, Talking Head, Action, or Guaranteed Mode. This will allow non-technical users to easily operate the encoding device in the field.

Avenir Mobile Video Broadcasting Solution

Avenir 2
Avenir 2 with LTE software will debut at NAB 2012. Designed for the broadcast industry, improvements on the original Avenir and new chassis design allows extended battery life, improved Wi-Fi reception, secure locking HDMI port, higher video quality utilizing 32nm processor technology, and one-step plug-in to the Signal Extender for eight wireless cellular modems and amplifiers. Avenir 2 supports both HD and 3G/SDI signals and allows professional quality HDMI capabilities with the secure locking HDMI port. Full Duplex enables Avenir 2 to receive and playback HD-SDI video in the field. Avenir 2 has been redesigned based on customer feedback to improve usability, reliability, and to enhance performance. This gives users the ability to send professional quality video from the field with low latency using the Streambox reliable protocol LDMP technology to maximize all available bandwidth. Automated one-click streaming offers presets to choose from, allowing non-technical users to easily operate Avenir 2 in the field.

Streambox Avenir Mini

Making its debut at NAB 2012 is Avenir Mini, a small camera-mountable mobile encoder designed for maximum mobility and flexibility. The Full HD/SD capable Avenir Mini delivers broadcast quality video using low bandwidth IP networks. Avenir Mini is the smallest Streambox hardware-based mobile encoder, weighing under 5 pounds, measuring 4.4 inches wide, 1.9 inches tall, and 7 inches long. The small lightweight encoder can attach to the back of a battery on any professional video camera or be used in a custom designed pouch that can be looped through a belt. Avenir Mini has SDI and HDMI inputs and bonds up to four integrated wireless cellular modems to stream high quality video enabling live or file-based acquisition from anywhere over a variety of low data rate networks.

Avenir Backpack Kit
The new Backpack Kit is a customized Streambox Backpack that is strategically designed to carry Avenir 2 with LTE software, Signal Extender Kit, and Hot Swappable Battery Plate. The Signal Extender boosts up to eight 3G/4G cellular modem signals (including AT&T and Verizon LTE support) to receive the best possible signal connection, even in remote locations or indoors. The Hot Swappable Battery Plate allows users to maintain their stream without interruption.
