Streambox Launches Robust 1 RU SBT3-5200 Video Transport System

New Store and Forward Capabilities Also Announced for All Streambox Systems

SEATTLE – April 10, 2007 -Streambox Inc. today announced a brand-new video transport system specifically engineered for the broadcast industry. The Streambox® SBT3-5200 video transport system enables broadcasters to transmit full-motion, full-frame interlaced video and audio over IP-based networks. With a compact 1-RU profile, the SBT3-5200 is ideal for use in live news broadcasts, distribution to cable head-ends, and other video delivery applications where small size, high reliability, superior performance, and low power requirements are important. The SBT3-5200 system will be introduced at NAB2007, booth SU15515.

“We’re very excited to introduce the robust SBT3-5200 for use in the broadcast, cable, and government video production markets,” said Streambox Chairman and CEO, Bob Hildeman “This new system integrates all of the benefits of our proven encoding technology, yet introduces a smaller, lighter weight chassis for easier integration into news trucks or other settings where space is limited. We’ve also expanded the feature set with an optional Store and Forward capability that enhances the delivery of video streams even over low bandwidth connections.”

The SBT3-5200 model supports genlock and features composite SD-SDI inputs with embedded, balanced, and AES audio. The encoder’s half duplex mode also enables it to be used as a decoder with multiple SDI and composite outputs.

The new 1 RU SBT3-5200 system relies on the Streambox® ACT-L3™ technology already widely used by news organizations worldwide. All ACT-L3™ systems, including the SBT3-5200, provide unrivaled video quality and compression. Designed for 24/7 use, the system is extremely energy efficient and includes a robust error correction feature set. With adjustable latency, user-configurable presets, and seamless local or remote management, the SBT3-5200 is a truly flexible video transport solution.

SBT3-5200 users can elect to include the company’s new Store and Forward option, now available for all Streambox video transport solutions. This next-generation feature extends the capabilities of the SBT3-5200 and other Streambox systems to better support storage, management, and transmission of HD and SD video streams over IP-based networks. This feature enables for example field journalists to simultaneously transfer files and for the news studio to begin playout, making the story available to the news anchor before file recording is complete. The new Store and Forward capabilities are particularly useful in live newsgathering applications where the video quality exceeds the available uplink bandwidth.

The SBT3-5200 is suited for use in a wide range of applications, spanning backhaul video transport, newsgathering, and satellite trucks to applications such as video conferencing, distance learning, and surveillance and security.
