Streambox® SBT3-9500 HD/SD Video Transport Encoder
Streambox is announcing for NAB the release of the hybrid Streambox® SBT3-9500 HD/SD Encoder for IP-based newsgathering and video transport. The innovative solution enables broadcasters to do live and file-based newsgathering, video transport and acquisition in HD and SD. The SBT3-9500 is integrated into one lightweight and portable solution making it ideal for encoding mission critical video over low cost IP networks such as 3G, WiFi, WIMAX, and the Internet. The versatile HD/SD encoder is typically deployed to field crews for low data rate newsgathering. It features 2 ½ hours of battery life and it can also run on a car battery. The encoder works seamlessly with the breadth of Streambox’s video management and playout systems.
Streambox® File-Based Solutions
Streambox’s solution for file-based newsgathering and video acquisition provides enhanced management for field-generated video for on-demand or scheduled playout of multi-format video clips. The IP-based offering comprises three products, each serving unique roles in the broadcast work flow: The Streambox® Store and Forward Server, the Streambox® Store and Forward Client, and the Streambox® Media Station. The Store and Forward Server supports hundreds of simultaneous video file uploads from field crews, stringers and citizen reporters while providing searchable metadata such as reporter name, location, and file name via a web-based interface. The Server can be customized to facilitate rule-based transcoding to and from a variety of file formats. Control room operators gain up-to-the-minute visibility into the status of video uploads. Operators can also view previews of uploads by selecting the thumbnail view. Playout lists and playout schedules are created and managed via the Media Station web interface. The file-based solution simplifies and streamlines the broadcast work flow from video file upload to video management and playout.
Streambox® SBT3-9200 HD/SD Video Transport Encoder
Streambox is announcing for NAB 2009 the launch of its next-generation Streambox® SBT3-9200 HD/SD Video Transport Encoder for HD/SD newsgathering, broadcasting, and video post production. The SBT3-9200 can be operated in HD or SD mode, enabling the user to capture, transmit, and play out live and file-based video. The Encoder provides stunning 1080i/720p/1080psf HD video at data rates from 256 Kbps to 30 Mbps and SD video from 64 Kbps to 15 Mbps.
The SBT3-9200 Encoder has been developed to meet the performance and quality requirements of customers in a variety of industry sectors. Movie and post production companies, for example, are using the SBT3-9200 to transmit high quality live HD and SD video over low data rate IP networks as a way to accelerate and enhance editing processes such as color correction. With the Streambox solution, video editors are able to transmit the edited video file over IP in real-time and gain immediate feedback and approval from clients who may be located in different time zones and perhaps even on different continents. It makes this part of the post production process much more efficient and cost effective.
