Streambox Live Feature Report: Local Play Button
Posted in General, Streambox Live on 29. Jun, 2010
Streambox Live recently released the new “Local Play” feature to the Streambox Live Service which allows users to route live streams to the Streambox Media Player. The Streambox Media Player is a free software alternative to a hardware decoder, allowing the user to stream live video directly to their desktop. Previously, in order for users to route live streams directly to their media player, steps such as inputting the IP-address, assigning a channel and connecting to the Live Server needed to be taken before the stream was played. Now, once the Local button is pushed on an incoming live stream, the video is automatically routed directly to their Streambox Media Player for viewing, with no manual input needed. Local Play creates a simpler and faster way for users to play live streams on their desktop.
To take advantage of this Local Play feature, users need to follow these three easy steps:
1. Download the latest Streambox Media Player from the Streambox Live Server (Version 2.015-3.97 BETA)
2. Open the Media Player
3. Click “Local” for the desired live stream on the Streambox Live Server
This new feature eliminates the previous manual ad-hoc decoding of Streambox Live and allows users one-click routing of live video and creates a faster way for Streambox Live users to preview multiple live feeds. For example, users who have multiple live streams coming into the server can preview the feeds as a way to check the quality of video before choosing to route them to a hardware decoder. Stay tuned each week for more features and updates to Streambox Live.
