Streambox, Hughes, Row 44, TECOM and Intelsat General have unveiled an Airborne KU-band SATCOM System that delivers audio and video from air-to-ground at 5 times the speed currently available. This solution is ideal for border patrol, Comms on the move, Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance (ISR) and other applications where situational awareness is necessary.
The Streambox® Avenir, the newest member of Streambox’s industry-leading family of mobile video transport and streaming solutions, is now shipping with an expanded feature set to enable high-quality, low-latency, and low-bandwidth IP transport of HD or SD video for broadcast or streaming to the Web and mobile devices. Designed for field newsgathering, sports broadcasting, streaming, and other mobile live and file-based video applications, the battery-operated Avenir enables field reporters to send live or file-based video content over bonded 3G and 4G wireless networks as well as the Internet.
Our Streambox Live Software Encoders will soon offer the ability to select NTSC or PAL when sending live video from the field. This new feature will simplify the output of Streambox Live for European users and those who reside in other PAL countries. Previously, users could only capture video in NTSC, creating the need for non NTSC users to convert to PAL output. By adding the opportunity to capture video in PAL, users will get better frame rate and resolution, while eliminating the need for format conversion.
Our new Streambox Live Mobile Encoder for iPhone 4 now has the capability to use the front facing camera to send video. This new camera allows Streambox Live contributors using the iPhone 4 to send live video from the field and report via a self-shot talking head.
At the conference, Streambox will be discussing applications of Streambox Live and its ability stream live video over the low bandwidth of mobile satellites. Streambox will be collaborating with Inmarsat Distribution Partners who bundle the Streambox Live Service and host the Streambox Live Servers on their networks. This partnership gives their government users full access to Streambox Live and it’s free encoder software. Users will now have a reliable and efficient way to bring live video streams from the field back to the broadcast or data centers.
To allow users the flexibility of QuickTime to edit archived video files, we have released a new QuickTime Transcoder Droplet for Streambox Live. This feature will give users the efficiency and reliability of our award winning ACT-L3 codec, while allowing the ability to convert files to QuickTime from the Live Server.
