Digital Media World- Nine News in Adelaide recently presented a behind the scenes look at how they broadcastnews bulletins with a workflow comprising the Matrox MXO2 encoder, Streambox software and a BGAN satellite terminal.
Cameraman Mitch Wall described the equipment and system used out in the field for live satellite/streaming broadcasts, from video capture to delivery, using this workflow.
From the camera, data is fed into a laptop via a Matrox MXO2 encoder, which transcodes it into a readable signal. The Streambox application on the laptop encodes and compresses the camera data ready to send out to a BGAN terminal, acting as a mini satellite dish, which sends a stream at 450kb/sec on an extreme connection to a geosynchronous satellite for broadcast.
Digital Media World highlights how Nine News Australia is utilizing the Streambox Hybrid HD/SD Software Encoder to capture live, breaking news from the field. Video is captured using a laptop software encoder where it is then sent to the broadcast center via a portable BGAN terminal.
