Streambox Live Pro Encoder will make its debut at IBC 2011; this enhanced version of Streambox Live will give users the ability to take advantage of uncapped bandwidth, full D1 resolution, and Advanced Audio Coding (AAC). With emerging 4G cellular networks, Streambox Live Pro Encoder will utilize more available bandwidth on cellular networks to send professional quality video. Streambox Live Pro enables broadcasters to enhance breaking news stories with ad hoc broadcasting content supplied by a variety of contributors including video journalists and stringers. At the front end, the cornerstone of this scalable software-based solution is the Streambox Live Pro Encoder, which will be made available for download on laptops and desktops to contributors affiliated with broadcast groups and local television stations. Streambox, Inc. today announced the innovative Streambox 3D technology provided transmission for the world’s first broadcast of a live orthopedic operation in Full HD 3D. The Streambox 3D solution ensured a secure and reliable transmission between the two sites, from a laboratory in Annency, France where the knee prosthesis was taking place to the viewing audience at the Johnson & Johnson sponsored medical conference 2 km away. The procedure was captured in 1080i resolution as Streambox HD 3D continuously streamed the entire four-hour surgery to the end destination with one-second latency, where the live HD 3D video was projected onto a 12 meter x 6 meter screen.
Today, Streambox announced the new Streambox ACT-L3 AP Codec (Advanced Compression Technology – Level 3 Advanced Profile), which utilizes innovative coding methods to incorporate more efficient algorithms and uses new techniques to compress and playout video. The release of this new video compression ACT-L3 AP not only introduces new coding methods, but the Advanced Profile also presents a new frame type: the R-Frame. The R-Frame allows improved quality of live video transmission over wireless and Internet networks for low latency, low bit rate, or high packet loss environments, which are crucial in live breaking news situations. The ACT-L3 AP codec translates across the entire Streambox Platform of professional live and file-based video products including HD/SD rackmount Encoders and Decoders, HD/SD Software Encoders installed on Mac OS X and Windows PC laptops, iPhone and Android Apps, and the mobile encoding device Streambox Avenir. ACT-L3 AP is also supported across all versions of Streambox codecs, including 4:2:2, High Definition, and 3D versions.
