University of Washington-Led Expedition Relies on Streambox to Power Live Video Transport from within the Caldera of an Active Volcano 5,000 ft. Underwater
SEATTLE — October 25, 2011 — Streambox, Inc. today announced that the University of Washington-led VISIONS’11 expedition selected Streambox 9300 Encoders, Decoders, and full platform of video transport solutions as research tools to transmit live observations of changes in the seafloor environment following the April 2011 eruption of Axial Seamount, an underwater volcano off the coast of Oregon.
The University of Washington and the Canadian Scientific Submersible Facility are turning to Streambox to assist in their search for undersea volcanoes. NTSC or PAL format selection will enable Streambox users to simplify the format conversion process by automatically outputting the preferred format, bypassing the time-consuming step of transcoding the video with a third party product.
