Romero, the youngest person ever to attempt and reach the summit of the world’s highest peak, used the service to send up-to-the-minute, high-quality video reports of his progress from various locations on the mountain — one of which was included in CNN’s broadcast coverage of the expedition.

Streambox, Inc. is among the key partners behind a CNN digital newsgathering project that has won a Technology and Engineering Emmy Award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS). CNN received the Emmy for “development and implementation of an integrated and portable IP-based live, edit, and store-and-forward digital newsgathering system.”
