Streambox was featured in the latest edition of the Voice of America’s (VOA) Buzz Newsletter which discussed the use of Streambox for bringing back election coverage from Bosnia for the first time.
Streambox® today announced that its Streambox Live™ broadband video contribution service provided a vital communications link for 13-year-old climber Jordan Romero’s ascent of Mount Everest. Romero, the youngest person ever to attempt and reach the summit of the world’s highest peak, used the service to send up-to-the-minute, high-quality video reports of his progress from various locations on the mountain — one of which was included in CNN’s broadcast coverage of the expedition.
Streambox Live offers FEC from the earth station to the user. The Streambox Live FEC makes it possible to send video from the server over a low bandwidth public network, without packet loss by adding redundancy. This feature sends a simultaneous, identical video stream that ensures any packets lost in the original can be corrected to ensure uninterrupted high quality.
Streambox will be attending the Inmarsat Global Partner Conference at the Fairmont Hotel in Monaco June 2-4. The Conference brings Inmarsat distribution partners together to meet and discuss new technology and innovations within the mobile satellite market. At the conference, Streambox will be discussing the applications of Streambox Live and its ability stream live video over the low bandwidth of mobile satellites.
