With this new release from Verizon, Mac OSX users will have the opportunity to utilize the Verizon 4G LTE Network. 4G Availability on Mac OSX means that Streambox users streaming video from the Hybrid HD/SD Software Encoder can send broadcast quality video from a single 4G Card.

Gen. James F. Amos and Sgt. Maj. Carlton Kent visit Marines and Sailors with Regimental Combat Team 2 on Dec. 25, 2010. DVIDS captured the event using a Streambox Software Encoder on a Macbook Pro. The stream was sent live over a Norsat Satellite Connection at 2.5 Mbps and was received at DVIDS headquarters in Atlanta, GA on a Streambox 9300 Decoder. With Streambox technology in place, DVIDS is able to conduct interviews over the satellite connection utilizing the Streambox IFB Server.

The Streambox Hybrid HD/SD Software Encoder is now capable of transporting HD video with only one cellular modem due to Verizon’s new 4G LTE Mobile Broadband network. On December 5th, 2010, Verizon launched their new 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution) network in 38 cities around the country, including Seattle, home of Streambox headquarters.
