Streambox Live Pro Encoder will make its debut at IBC 2011; this enhanced version of Streambox Live will give users the ability to take advantage of uncapped bandwidth, full D1 resolution, and Advanced Audio Coding (AAC). With emerging 4G cellular networks, Streambox Live Pro Encoder will utilize more available bandwidth on cellular networks to send professional quality video. Streambox Live Pro enables broadcasters to enhance breaking news stories with ad hoc broadcasting content supplied by a variety of contributors including video journalists and stringers. At the front end, the cornerstone of this scalable software-based solution is the Streambox Live Pro Encoder, which will be made available for download on laptops and desktops to contributors affiliated with broadcast groups and local television stations. Streambox Live Pro is a scalable service that allows broadcasters to capture video from their town, country, or anywhere around the world.
Streambox, Inc. today announced the innovative Streambox 3D technology provided transmission for the world’s first broadcast of a live orthopedic operation in Full HD 3D. The Streambox 3D solution ensured a secure and reliable transmission between the two sites, from a laboratory in Annency, France where the knee prosthesis was taking place to the viewing audience at the Johnson & Johnson sponsored medical conference 2 km away. The procedure was captured in 1080i resolution as Streambox HD 3D continuously streamed the entire four-hour surgery to the end destination with one-second latency, where the live HD 3D video was projected onto a 12 meter x 6 meter screen.
Streambox today announced two major updates to all hardware and software products within the Streambox acquisition platform of professional video encoders and decoders. The Streambox Platform now showcases advanced HD video scaling and automated NTSC or PAL format selection. These new breakthrough features will enable Streambox users to enhance the quality of their video content, while improving efficiency by streamlining their video transport workflow. Advanced video scaling will give Streambox users the ability to capture video in the field at much lower resolution from an iPhone, iPad 2, or Android device, and automatically transcode the video at the studio end, upscaling to full HD resolution fixed output for high quality broadcast results. NTSC or PAL format selection will enable Streambox users to simplify the format conversion process by automatically outputting the preferred format, bypassing the time-consuming step of transcoding the video with a third party product. Advanced video scaling and NTSC or PAL format selection will be integrated into the entire Streambox acquisition platform.
Watch the video above to see Fox News reporter Steve Harrington use the Streambox Live mobile encoder for iPhone to report live, on-air from Ringgold, Georgia. Using Streambox Live and headphones to receive IFB Chat from the studio, Steve was able to report from the scene and send live video after devastating storms struck the area.
Today, Streambox unveiled Streambox Live Pro, the new enhanced version of the innovative IP-based video contribution Streambox Live Service. Streambox Live Pro enables remote reporters and citizen journalists to upload compressed live video streams to broadcast studios through Internet-based Streambox Live Data Centers located at multiple points around the world. Streambox Live Pro’s uncapped bandwidth, Advanced Audio Encoding (AAC), and Full D1 resolution will take advantage of emerging 4G cellular networks, which will allow more video content to be transported, and at a higher quality. In addition to Streambox Live Pro, the original version of Streambox Live will be available with added IFB communication, an increased bit rate up to 750 kilobytes per second (kbps) and higher resolution capabilities up to ½ D1; offering users two different robust video service options to choose from. Both Streambox Live and Streambox Live Pro are compatible with the entire Streambox Platform of professional quality HD/SD video products to enhance breaking news coverage for scalable low cost video contribution.
Today, Streambox announced the new Streambox ACT-L3 AP Codec (Advanced Compression Technology – Level 3 Advanced Profile), which utilizes innovative coding methods to incorporate more efficient algorithms and uses new techniques to compress and playout video. The release of this new video compression ACT-L3 AP not only introduces new coding methods, but the Advanced Profile also presents a new frame type: the R-Frame. The R-Frame allows improved quality of live video transmission over wireless and Internet networks for low latency, low bit rate, or high packet loss environments, which are crucial in live breaking news situations. The ACT-L3 AP codec translates across the entire Streambox Platform of professional live and file-based video products including HD/SD rackmount Encoders and Decoders, HD/SD Software Encoders installed on Mac OS X and Windows PC laptops, iPhone and Android Apps, and the mobile encoding device Streambox Avenir. ACT-L3 AP is also supported across all versions of Streambox codecs, including 4:2:2, High Definition, and 3D versions.
