Streambox Announces Breakthrough Real-Time Video Transport For Broadcasting, Cable &Amp; Satellite

Streambox® ACT-L2 Video Transport™ Broadcast Quality Real-Time Video Encoding and Decoding Solution for IP, Ethernet and ATM Networks

February 18, 2003 Seattle, WA - Streambox Inc. released today a new video delivery solution for television broadcasting over single T1 line. The new ACT-L2 Video Transport is a high compression solution that delivers stunning full motion, full frame true broadcast quality interlaced video at 1.5 mbps.

With ACT-L Video Transport video quality is not compromised over a Single T1 line by delivering true MPEG-2 quality. ACT-L2 codec's superior compression performance, motion estimation and postfiltering allow broadcasters to exploit the economical, reliable and time proven T1/ATM infrastructure to transport wide range of broadcast network feeds such as news, movies, drama, shows and sports.

ACT-L Video Transport solution serves a wide range of applications such as Television Broadcasting, Tele-medicine, Video Trucking, Centralcasting and distance learning utilizing this, the most advanced compression technology available.

"ACT-L2 Video Transport Solution contains a number of advanced features for quality, reliability and QoS. We have built into the system self-healing technologies for fault tolerant operations and the industry's highest quality video codec that delivers considerably higher quality interlaced video than every other alternative available today for T1/ATM networks ", said Bob Hildeman, CEO of Streambox. "ACT-L2 video compression efficiencies allow Broadcasters, Cable and telecommunications operators a real solution for delivering higher quality videos at lower cost for network-based distribution of their programs."

ACT-L2 Video Transport Solution is easy to set up and use and contains all of the necessary hardware and software to transport video. No additional network equipment is required for operations - just plug in the video and audio source and power up.

"Streambox ACT-L2 Video Transport video quality meets our need to provide natural looking, MPEG-2 quality video over a single T1 line, allowing us to broadcast higher video quality without adding additional T1 lines" said Greg Herman, President WatchTV Inc. "ACT-L2 Video Transport system has been reliable, self-healing and running "rock solid" for us."

ACT-L2 Video Transport Solution is software upgradeable. As improvements are made to the ACT-L2 codec, the system can be upgraded to provide improved quality video and performance. Broadcasters utilizing ACT-L2 Video Transport would experience higher ROI and continual quality and performance upgrades as software improvements are made.

The ACT-L2 Video Transport Encoder can be provisioned in the broadcast center to stream broadcast quality video over IP or ATM networks to multiple decoders. The system comes with near CD quality audio that can be configured to deliver balanced or unbalanced audio.

Streambox Inc. will demonstrate at the 2003 NAB in Las Vegas the ½ D1 Broadcast quality at 1.5 mbps and the Full D1 DVD quality at 3 mbps Streambox ACT-L2 Video Transport Solutions.
