Software-Only Encoder Enables Traditional Broadcasters and Internet
Publishers to Harness Full Power of Streambox Video Technology

SEATTLE — Mar. 27, 2008 — Streambox, Inc. today announced that a software-only version of the company’s award-winning Streambox® ACT-L3™ Encoder will be released on June 1, 2008. The Streambox® ACT-L3 Software Encoder™ has been successfully deployed by leading national and international broadcasters for several years and will now be available for general release. Typically used for live and file-based newsgathering and video acquisition over low data rate IP networks, the software enables Mac OS or Windows PC users to adopt Streambox’s platform for encoding, transmission, and video file management while fully leveraging Streambox’s platform for broadcast and broadband video.

Streambox’s ACT-L3™ video compression technology has emerged as the gold standard for IP-based live newsgathering and video file acquisition for broadcast and broadband video. Known for its outstanding video quality and transmission reliability served over a variety of lower data rate wired and wireless IP networks, the Streambox® ACT-L3 Software Encoder™ helps local television broadcasters gain access to a highly efficient and cost-effective, newsgathering platform. The same efficiencies and cost savings extend to, for example, newspapers and video web portals. The solution adds yet another tool for video acquisition, centralized management, and play-out available only through Streambox’s video platform. It extends broadcasters’ mobility spectrum from wireless handheld Mobile Encoders to full-featured software and hardware encoders for a variety of SD and HD newsgathering and video backhaul applications.
