Streambox Helps American Red Cross Increase
Mobility and Efficiency During Disaster
Collaboration Targets Enhanced Emergency Response
and Assessment Capabilities
Seattle - April 24, 2007 - Streambox, Inc. and the American Red Cross announced plans to deploy Streambox® ACT-L3T newsgathering solutions to Red Cross field workers in an effort to enhance mobility, decrease response times and quickly deploy resources to areas affected by disasters. Typically used for live newsgathering via broadband and IP, Streambox systems will facilitate an effective means of viewing real-time disaster relief that will help Red Cross operations during national responses.
The American Red Cross will deploy the compact SBT3-7500 or Portable video transport systems, both of which are easy to carry and can be set up in minutes at any location. The Streambox solution also includes IFB and Broadcast Servers, which enable use of the back channel connection to communicate even when other infrastructures have been knocked out.
With the move to Streambox systems, the American Red Cross gains an integrated solution for transmission of video and audio over low data rate networks such as BGAN and other IP networks. The multiple-system deployment also enables the relief organization to cover events simultaneously, deploy resources to ensure efficient coverage, and exchange information in an effort to maximize preparedness and coordination efforts.
“The small form factor, low power requirement, and high portability of Streambox systems are real assets when delivering video from challenging locations” said Bob Hildeman, Chairman and CEO of Streambox. “Likewise, the real-time high-quality video may help ensure quicker response times by relief organizations and government agencies.”

About the American Red Cross
The American Red Cross helps people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. Last year, almost a million volunteers and 35,000 employees helped victims of almost 75,000 disasters; taught lifesaving skills to millions; and helped U.S. service members separated from their families stay connected. Almost 4 million people gave blood through the Red Cross, the largest supplier of blood and blood products in the United States. The American Red Cross is part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. An average of 91 cents of every dollar the Red Cross spends is invested in humanitarian services and programs. The Red Cross is not a government agency; it relies on donations of time, money, and blood to do its work.
