Decoders Now Part of the Most Powerful Family of SD & HD Video
Compression and Transport Systems Available, Delivering High Quality
Real-time Video Over Low Bandwidth Networks, With Proven Forward Error
Correction.
IBC AMSTERDAM & SEATTLE, Washington September 12, 2005— Streambox Inc., the leader in high performance real-time video compression and transmission solutions for broadcasting, satellite and cable, launches new ACT-L3™ SBT3-5100 and SBT3-7100 Encoders and Decoders, expanding the proven capabilities of its previous generation of powerful and versatile broadcast video over IP solutions.
These third generation ACT-L3™ encoders and decoders deliver the most flexible professional quality digital video and audio I/O options. The newly redesigned systems provide improved reliability and usability with over 30 new features and enhancements. The systems include as a standard simultaneous SDI and Analog video input and output, ability to convert to and from SDI and Analog and provide up to six-channels of embedded audio. Balanced analog and AES audio is also supported The 5100/7100 encoders feature half-duplex design for easy switching between encoder and decoder operation. New options include ASI networking, as well as 6-channel AES audio. Improved signal processing software provides de-interlacing as an option for DNG or PC clients. Special optimized modes are available for ultra low bitrate channels.
Streambox ACT-L3™ Encoders and Decoders are built using the world’s most efficient compression engine: ACT-L3™ (Advanced Coding Technology, Level 3), which delivers video quality to meet the most exacting standards using minimum network bandwidth. Broadcasters are using Streambox systems for contribution and distribution feeds at Full D1 (NTSC 720x480i 29.97fps) in the USA over links as small as a single T1 (1.5 Mbps).
ACT-L3™ incorporates advanced networking technology to enhance delivery reliability and video quality across all network types: Packet Rate Shaping ensures constant bandwidth profiles and smooth delivery; industry-leading Forward Error Correction overcomes data transmission errors inherent in most network connections. Additional Features: Store & Forward for near real time and delayed delivery over extremely poor and limited bandwidth networks; integrated CSU/DSU interfaces for direct connection and delivery over T1 and E1 links; ASI networking to deliver high quality feeds over existing infrastructure.
“The broadcast, satellite and cable industries realize that ‘Video over IP’ is being deployed at a breakneck pace, delivering on the promise of lower costs and new opportunities. Streambox’s cutting edge technologies and solutions are solving immediate needs to deliver broadcast video over IP over real world networks today,” said Bob Hildeman, Founder & CEO, Streambox, Inc. “We are continuing to invest in R&D to create new innovations in video compression methods and transmission solutions that will provide ongoing economic value to our customers.”
