SBT3-7500 Real-Time Encoder at IBC2006
Highly
Portable Encoding Solution Extends Reach, Increases Performance in
Delivery of Exceptional Real-Time Video Over IP and Satellite Networks
SEATTLE — June 21, 2006 — Streambox, Inc.,a leading supplier of real-time video solutions for broadcasting, satellite, and cable, will be releasing at IBC2006 a new generation of the company’s industry-leading video transport solutions for mobile newsgathering over IP or satellite. The compact, lightweight SBT3-7500 encoder is a full-featured, plug-and-connect, real-time video transport system that delivers MPEG-2 video quality at a 75 percent lower data rate and provides up to 50 percent better efficiency than MPEG-4 systems
The SBT3-7500 offers broadcasters and their news departments a whole new level of flexibility and portability, in turn enabling crews to gather and transmit real-time broadcast video cost-effectively over IP and satellite from the world’s hot spots at low data rates and using very little power,” said Bob Hildeman, chairman and CEO at Streambox. “With its very small form factor and easy setup, the SBT3-7500 makes it possible to deliver breaking news, even from the most challenging locations, faster, cheaper, and at a higher quality than ever before.”
Weighing only 5 pounds and measuring just 2.5 inches high, 12 inches wide, and 13 inches deep, the Streambox® SBT3-7500 offers uniquely robust encoding performance in a very small form factor. The pairing of best-in-class performance and compact design makes the SBT3-7500 an ideal solution for mobile newsgathering, whether it’s used in a news truck, for airborne/seaborne surveillance and video transport, or in any other setting in which portability, flexibility, and a lower power requirement is desired. For example, the SBT3-7500 encoder can be powered using an 80 Watt car battery for maximum mobility.
The SBT3-7500 system is built on the Streambox® ACT-L3 codec and advanced proprietary video compression technology used by leading broadcasters, satellite, and cable operators around the world. The Streambox encoder enables these users to leverage cost-effective packet-based networks in the delivery of stunning full-motion, full-frame interlaced broadcast video and audio. A store-and-forward option offers additional flexibility in the management and transmission of video content.
The system supports 4:2:0 and 4:2:2 color profiles and ensures excellent picture quality through advanced forward error correction and burst error correction, which manage, control, and recover packet loss and correct video-delivery irregularities inherent in satellite and IP-based networks. Low end-to-end latency maintains the quality of real-time video in newsgathering and video conferencing applications.
