Video Transport

Streambox video transport and acquisition solutions provide unrivaled performance, reliability, and quality over
low data rate IP networks for fast transmission and play-out of video streams in HD and SD. The ability to stream live or file-based video over network connection of your choice: T1/E1, DSL, the public Internet, or other IP-based wired and wireless networks adds agility and flexibility to broadcast operations while streamlining processes
and curbing cost.

Features such as advanced networking options, including forward error correction, enable users to stream high quality, low latency video over network connections that are traditionally considered too inferior for broadcast video.

Please see below for real-world examples and application areas for Streambox video transport.

Video Transport Work Flows

SBT3-5100 systems enable a Japanese cable channel to broadcast live boat racing from more than ten locations over an IP-based network. The video feeds are delivered through the company’s broadcast center in Tokyo and re-broadcast in real-time to dozens of venues throughout Japan.

A television station in Oregon is using a SBT3-5100 system to transmit live video feeds of college football games
at full D1 resolution via a 4.5 Mbps SONET Ring IP network.

ACT-L3™ multicast features enable broadcasters to deliver high quality video to multiple cable head ends at low data rates and low cost. The Streambox multicast solution makes it simple and cost effective to add new cable head ends to the multicast network as the broadcaster acquires more television stations.

A cable operator is using a combination of SBT3-7100 encoders and SBT3-5100 decoders equipped with dual T1 interface to distribute full D1 resolution video to multiple cable head ends over a single T1 line.

Nurse practitioners and physicians assistants use a combination of ACT-L3™ portable encoders and
SBT3-7500 compact encoders to transmit full D1 resolution live video from remote field clinics to specialists at partner clinics. The high quality video is sent via IP to help speed up patient diagnosis and treatment plans.

A Washington television station uses a SBT3-5100 video transport system to deliver live video from the airport tower cam to the station via a 1.5 Mbps T1 line at full D1 resolution. The live video feeds are used for ongoing weather and traffic updates in news broadcasts.

Major police/fire departments and law enforcement agencies use ACT-L3™ portable encoders to capture and transmit high quality live video from the scene back to headquarters for real-time evaluation and response. The video and audio is sent via radio link or wireless connections.

A California television station is using a combination of dual T1 equipped SBT3-7100 encoders and SBT3-5100 decoders to distribute its SDI signal from its news bureau to the main station. The signal is sent to a video
switcher for real-time broadcast.

A Oregon television station is using a combination of SBT3-5100 encoders and dual T1 equipped SBT3-7100 decoders to cut cost on long haul T1 lines. This is done by creating a daisy-chain network which enables the station to pay for shorter hops.
