Streambox is introducing a simple and cost-effective way to connect media professionals who require remote, real-time collaboration of high quality, color-rich, content across multiple locations without reviewers needing a Cloud account or needing  to connect with Streambox Cloud directly.

Streambox Sessions™ makes digital media production collaboration easy for post-production, broadcast, and other media organizations. Sessions is ideal for offsite producers, directors, colorists, editors, advisors, and others who need to participate in productions no matter where they are located.

Once a streaming session is set up and scheduled using the Streambox Cloud Server web app with administrator level access, a Session ID is generated. This ID code is sent out to everyone with a Streambox media player or decoder.

All anyone who is collaborating on the project needs to do is enter the code in the Session ID field of their Streambox Media Player or decoder, and they are immediately connected and ready for real-time review with no need for setup, managing the network, or performing configurations. Once streaming begins from a Streambox Encoder to the Session, all connected collaborators see the video stream on their Streambox media players and decoders.

Streambox Sessions™ works with Chroma, Chroma X, AVENIR, and software encoders on the origination side, and Chroma, Chroma X, AVENIR Micro 2, NODE, Streambox Player, Streambox Player Pro, and Mobile Media Player for iOS as media players.

This quick to set up and easy to use model is also cost-effective as the host organization only pays for what they use. Organizations can purchase a set amount of data through the Streambox on-line store or by contacting Streambox sales.

More media professionals are discovering the benefits of streaming in their workflows. By offering a service that is low on cost and complexity, Streambox make this capability even easier for organizations to adopt and utilize on a regular basis.

Streambox adds new real-time group Annotations capabilities to Streambox Chroma product line for remote color grading, editing and collaboration

As streaming becomes a common part of post-production processes, media professionals need tools to assist in marking up video content to expedite review workflows as well as improving and enhancing collaboration with project stakeholders.

The Annotations feature in Streambox Chroma provides a flexible method for group review of video content. Multiple stakeholders can be connected to a Chroma encoder system acting as an annotations server via a web interface to work on the same project. Annotations is a valuable tool for colorists, editors, and other production staff.

Annotations is meant for live video review where one or more of the reviewers can highlight the area of interest while describing the desired changes. Initially the annotations function is comprised of drawing on-screen lines with a mouse or touchscreen on selected video frames. All the markups can be burned to the image and archived with a save screenshot feature that includes time-stamped file names.

The annotations feature works with Chroma and Chroma X systems. All reviewers log in to the same Chroma unit through a web browser network connection. Depending on the network connection speed, a viewer can choose resolution and frame rate. Other selections include clear, save, display list, burn-in, and output type.

Using a mouse or touchscreen a viewer draws a mark, object; line, or word to highlight the area for discussion. Each time a viewer does a save, a screenshot of the video frame with the markup is archived on the connected Chroma encoder system. From the archived list a viewer can see each saved image with an identification timestamp. All the archive files can be downloaded for other usage.

Remote reviewing for post-production saves considerable time and money. Providing audio commentary and taking notes is useful, but also being able to create visual cues that highlight specific areas of interest makes revisions faster and more effective.

Streambox Receives Technical Emmy for LDMP Transport

At NAB 2019, Streambox received an Emmy® Award for Technology and Engineering in 2018 by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. The award was granted to Streambox for their work on pioneering reliable transmission methodology for live contribution and distribution television links.

In 2011, Streambox introduced Low Delay Multi-Path (LDMP) technology to provide dynamic encoding adjustment for real-time video transport over multiple network types, assuring reliable video playout over unreliable WiFi, 3G, 4G, and wired public IP networks simultaneously with minimal latency. LDMP provides intelligent monitoring and utilization of accessible network paths to efficiently maximize available bandwidth and achieve higher rates of transport and playback with minimal 500 ms to around 1 second end-to end latency even over public Internet networks, at significantly lower bandwidth than other systems. Integrated support for network bonding means transport has additional reliability and redundancy.

In the past, a significant amount of real-time broadcast event coverage was restricted to expensive satellite connections or contending with 4 to 6 second delays using other networking connectivity, if and when available.

Broadcast applications such as remote news gathering, live news production, and live event contribution, Streambox have deployed LDMP technology on iPhones, iPads, personal computers, and hardware systems which can be connected to Cloud services to meet a wide range of requirements.

Streambox pioneered Cloud IP distribution of live media as well, which produced a dramatic decrease in latency and a substantial increase in reliability by providing enhanced first and last mile connectivity. Streambox Cloud Services distribution also uses LDMP for transport to any number of designated destinations around the world at high quality and low latency.

In conjunction with LDMP transport, Streambox systems offer end-to-end strong AES encryption with a symmetric key, forming a protective shield around the transport of valuable video content with no increase in stream latency.

Broadcasters are not the only ones to benefit from this exceptional technology. Business, HOW, Education, Public Safety, Defense, and Post-Production organizations also use Streambox solutions. Feature, trailer, advertising, or television production facilities use Streambox Chroma for collaborative applications including  live reviews, remote color grading, VFX creation, and editing.

Using Streambox technology and solutions offer users some key advantages for broadcast contribution and distribution, including the ability to work on networks they already use, the capability of streaming out to network locations, websites, and social media platforms simultaneously, and most importantly, the functionality of operating over standard public networks with high quality and low latency, even with limited bandwidth.
