This week Totsu International, a Streambox partner, is taking part in the Broadcast Equipment Exhibition, the original name of Inter BEE. The Inter BEE exhibition first started in 1965 and has remained an annual event in Japan. This year Streambox is showcasing its newest products, including the new HD Rackmount and 2K Rackmount, as well as some of their popular products like the AVENIR Micro and 4K Rackmount.

Streambox‘s HD Rackmount provides secure, real-time, remote, collaborative workflows for broadcasters, enterprises and post production professionals. By providing low-latency, the rackmount is designed for reliable video streaming and collaboration over IP networks. With secure video encryption, studios are able to edit video in real-time with the rackmount which is a huge advantage for remote collaboration from any location.

The 2K Rackmount provides secure and remote color grading for post production professionals with an easy 30 Minute Networking Setup and Use for Playout Management. Streambox has introduced a new feature called an “upgrade path” for both 2K and HD rackmounts. For 2K rackmounts you are able to upgrade to 4K, 4K with 12G, 444 Color and 2K Stereo Video. The upgrade path works to keep Streambox products “future proof”, with the ability to upgrade to the newest hardware and software with ease, making it remarkably cost effective.

A cloud-based video management system, the Streambox Cloud, is also a featured service at the event. The Cloud is able to push or pull live streams on either side of a firewall and archive live video for later use. All Streambox products are compatible with Streambox Cloud, including the AVENIR Micro. The Micro is a mobile video encoder that fits in the palm of your hand and can send live video straight to the Cloud.

V-ANC

Improved Rackmount V-ANC Support

Streambox rackmount encoders now have improved support for capture, encoding, and transmission of vertical ancillary data, also known as V-ANC, by adding advanced mapping functions for easier integration with other systems. Ancillary data is non-video information such as closed captions and advertisement insertion triggers.

Streambox rackmount decoders can output vertical ancillary data information via HD-SDI but some downstream equipment might require data to be mapped to specific V-ANC lines. In this case, the new Streambox decoder, version 3.164.12, and new web UI allows users to assign a specific data type to a specific V-ANC line using packet identifier DID (Data IDentifier).

For example, in the screenshot below, Closed Captions (packet DID 161) are mapped to video line 9 and SCTE-104 events (packet DID 241) are mapped to line 13. Up to 3 different packet types can be assigned.

Note: traditionally, DID (Data Identifier word) is represented as a hexadecimal number. The decoder will perform automatic V-ANC data placement if the DID is zero.

Streambox Avenir Micro and Drone are modular and stackable mobile encoders for transmitting SD and full HD low-latency video over bonded 3G, 4G, WiFi, ethernet, SNG, DNG, BGAN, VSAT satellite, and internet networks. Designed for easy integration and outstanding quality, the miniature, low-power devices support HDR video and can be used with HD-SDI and HDMI cameras. The Avenir encoders can be used for streaming live events, public safety video, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) video, and various other video applications.

Streambox NDI Player allows users to seamlessly receive and decode live video from any Streambox encoder to a compatible NDI receiver. NDI allows multiple video systems to identify and communicate with one another over IP for encoding, transmitting, and receiving many streams of high quality, low latency, frame-accurate video and audio in real-time.

The Tricaster Add-on allows Streambox users to directly stream live HD/SD video at resolutions up to 1080p from any Streambox encoder (both hardware and software) into a TriCaster production system.

Streambox 4K Rackmount Encoder/Decoder is designed for low-bandwidth high quality 4K UHD video encoding, transmission, and playout of either live or file-based SD, HD, or UHD video over IP networks. This reduces broadcast costs while maintaining high-performance and reliability for professionals working with the highest quality video available today.
