Streambox Shows Streaming Media Professionals How to Picture Perfect Pixels at IBC 2018

At IBC 2018 Streambox is showing its high-performance media streaming solutions to picture perfect pixels for various applications including broadcasting and post production. Streambox can be found in Hall 8, Stand A08.

Streambox Chroma advanced encoder/decoder systems are ideal for critical UHD, and HD contribution. Native support for 12-bit 4:4:4 RGB color on the makes them a perfect match for Dolby Vision, HDR-10, and HDR10+ workflows. 16-channel uncompressed audio also makes Chroma suitable for projects incorporating Dolby ATMOS. This functionality makes Chroma the only live review solution in the industry that addresses the need for both HDR/Dolby Vision video and Dolby ATMOS. With support for up to 16 audio channels, Chroma is the right fit for productions with Dolby ATMOS and integration with audio applications such as Avid Pro Tools.

The Streambox Avenir line of portable and mobile encoders deliver reliable HD video streaming with bonded connectivity over various types of networks. Other Streambox solutions include Streambox Cloud Services global streaming transport, and software encoders, players, encryption, and streaming servers are being shown at the event.

Mobile Media Player has been recently released as an application supporting ten programmable HD video channels designed to integrate with other Streambox components for cost-effective viewing of high quality video on iPads and iPhones in real-time. Mobile Media Player is designed to automatically “pull” live video from Streambox Cloud Services, Streambox Enterprise Server, or directly point-to-point from various Streambox encoders such as Chroma for live playout.

Streambox has just released another type of media player. NODE 2 is a small form factor media player device supporting ten programmable HD video channels made to integrate with other Streambox components for cost-effective viewing of high quality video in real-time. NODE 2 has Gigabit Ethernet and Wi-Fi for Internet connectivity and an HDMI 2.0b output for video displays. Media playout can include up to 6 channels of uncompressed audio, with support for 5.1 surround sound as well.

NODE 2 is a small form factor media player device supporting ten programmable video channels made to integrate with other Streambox components for cost-effective viewing of high quality video in real-time, making NODE ideally suited for mobile or remote operations.

NODE enables remote viewing by key stakeholders in a cost-effective manner. During live productions, vital personnel such as directors and producers can get a real-time view from anywhere in the world. For post-production, activities such as color grading and review of dailies can be done collaboratively. In education, teachers can bring a real-time visual experience to students in remote locations. Complex procedures can be monitored for advisement by technical specialists in healthcare, law, engineering and other professions. For security, critical monitoring can occur from a remote facility.

The NODE Decoder/Player is able to deliver viewer the highest quality visual experience with consistent video streaming. It has Gigabit Ethernet and Wi-Fi for Internet connectivity and an HDMI 2.0b output for video displays.

NODE provides up to 10-bit color depth, is HDR ready, and displays video in resolutions up to 2K. To sustain such superior quality media, NODE supports streaming bit rates up to 20 Mbps using Streambox reliable transport network protocol. Playout can include up to 6 channels of uncompressed audio, with support for 5.1 surround sound as well.

NODE is designed to automatically “pull” live video from Streambox Cloud Services, Streambox Enterprise Server, or directly point-to-point from various Streambox encoders such as Chroma for live playout to connected high resolution screens and displays. NODE can be left running 24/7 and render streams in real-time as they arrive.

NODE keeps content secure as well by offering full encryption for live video. End-to-end encryption, with a symmetric key, forms a protective shield around the transport of valuable video content with no increase in stream latency.

Streambox Products Capture Live Video of Royal Wedding

Streambox products are used by major broadcast networks throughout the world and will be deployed at the Royal Wedding this Saturday, May 19th 2018. Products used for live video broadcasts over IP networks include the small form-factor AVENIR Micro encoder and the NODE media player for local review.

The Micro provides enhanced bonded connectivity capabilities with efficient encoding for high quality HD broadcast contribution. Designed for easy integration and outstanding quality, the low-powered Micro can be used to capture via HD-SDI or HDMI from broadcast cameras or other video sources  for transmission over satellite, Wifi, 3G, 4G, and ethernet networks.

Also being deployed is the Streambox NODE for live video playout to connected TVs & monitors. The NODE is a small form-factor HDMI media player supporting ten video channels which will automatically “pull” live video from the Streambox Cloud or Enterprise Server. This player is mainly used for low latency video monitoring of broadcasts to help coordinate live productions.

Steambox Cloud also provides live HD and 360 streaming from a single source to multiple social media providers like Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook.
