Come to Los Angeles and see Streambox high-performance media streaming solutions for post-production applications at SMPTE 2018.

Complete end-to-end workflows specifically tuned to the needs of broadcasters are enabled by Streambox broadcast solutions. By using Streambox systems, the costs of covering live events can be reduced by supplementing or removing existing satellite or microwave links.

For critical application such as a live two way interview, the Streambox Chroma advanced encoder / decoder offers high quality UHD and HD streaming. The optimized Streambox ACT L3/L5 codec supports various frame rates and bit depths- even 12-bit 4:4:4 RGB. Content can also contain HDR in different standards and up to 16 channels of uncompressed audio. Chroma functions as a streaming decoder and player at network and station facilities as well. Chroma also integrates easily into outside broadcast vehicles to remotely manage and distribute streaming video.

The AVENIR Micro mobile encoder is modular and stackable, permitting remote field reporters to set up quickly and transmit full HD, low latency video over bonded 3G,4G, WiFi, Ethernet, SNG / DNG, and Internet networks. The Avenir Mini 5 mobile encoder includes all of the capabilities of AVENIRMicro as well as being camera mountable with five embedded modems. Avenir encoders reliably transport high quality media over a variety of low bandwidth connections as events unfold.

Transport from the encoders can include point to point connection with a Streambox media player, or to multiple local and/or globally placed remote players using Streambox Enterprise Server or Streambox Cloud Services. Cloud Services adds the flexibility and scalability of establishing a robust first mile connection and use of reliable Cloud-based distribution to any number of designated destinations around the world.

There are a number of options for playing out streaming media content from Streambox. A Chroma hardware decoder can be used for the most demanding situations. A smaller, lower cost hardware option is the NODE 2 media player. This is a small form factor device that includes up to 10 programmable channels with support for HDR and 6 channels of audio. There are players for both Windows and Mac based computer systems. For a more mobile experience, Streambox offers a Mobile Media Player iOS application for iPads and iPhones, with an Android version coming soon.

At IBC 2018 Streambox is showing its high-performance media streaming solutions to picture perfect pixels for various applications including broadcasting and post production. Streambox can be found in Hall 8, Stand A08.

Streambox Chroma advanced encoder/decoder systems are ideal for critical UHD, and HD contribution. Native support for 12-bit 4:4:4 RGB color on the makes them a perfect match for Dolby Vision, HDR-10, and HDR10+ workflows. 16-channel uncompressed audio also makes Chroma suitable for projects incorporating Dolby ATMOS. This functionality makes Chroma the only live review solution in the industry that addresses the need for both HDR/Dolby Vision video and Dolby ATMOS. With support for up to 16 audio channels, Chroma is the right fit for productions with Dolby ATMOS and integration with audio applications such as Avid Pro Tools.

The Streambox Avenir line of portable and mobile encoders deliver reliable HD video streaming with bonded connectivity over various types of networks. Other Streambox solutions include Streambox Cloud Services global streaming transport, and software encoders, players, encryption, and streaming servers are being shown at the event.

Mobile Media Player has been recently released as an application supporting ten programmable HD video channels designed to integrate with other Streambox components for cost-effective viewing of high quality video on iPads and iPhones in real-time. Mobile Media Player is designed to automatically “pull” live video from Streambox Cloud Services, Streambox Enterprise Server, or directly point-to-point from various Streambox encoders such as Chroma for live playout.

Streambox has just released another type of media player. NODE 2 is a small form factor media player device supporting ten programmable HD video channels made to integrate with other Streambox components for cost-effective viewing of high quality video in real-time. NODE 2 has Gigabit Ethernet and Wi-Fi for Internet connectivity and an HDMI 2.0b output for video displays. Media playout can include up to 6 channels of uncompressed audio, with support for 5.1 surround sound as well.
